Volunteers with SWERV will engage in community living, spiritual practices, professional development, and anti-oppression education while serving a borderlands community, responding particularly to needs created by the dual pandemics of covid-19 and white supremacy.

What SWERV offers:
- housing in community with other SWERV volunteers
- monthly stipend for living expenses
- health insurance premium stipend (for those not continuing on parent/guardian insurance)
- meaningful volunteer work for 30-35 hrs/week
- transportation while on site
- opportunities to connect with mentors
- self-care support (connections to spiritual direction, therapy, pastoral care, etc)
- 20 hrs/month of programming in spirituality, vocational discernment, professional development, and anti-oppression education, led by experienced staff
What SWERV asks of volunteers:
- commit to engaging deeply in self-reflection and learning alongside colleagues
- serve for 10 months (rolling start)
- participate with a local worshiping community (virtual participation during covid-19)
- strive to raise $3,000 from home and other communities as a practice of invitation to mission and asking for help
- arrange travel to service site (some financial assistance may be available)
- complete 3-6 mission engagement activities during service period (blog posts, speaking engagements, video chats, etc)
- participate to the fullest extent of your ability with authenticity, vulnerability, humility, and flexibility
